What is child abuse? Child abuse is a form of maltreatment by an adult, which is violent or threatening for the child that up to 1 billion children aged 2–17 years worldwide, have experienced. Maltreatment involves any cruel or violent treatment towards someone. There are forms of maltreatment that include: physical; sexual; emotional violence; neglect.

Sexual abuse

Child Neglect"The ongoing failure to meet a child's basic needs and the most common form of child abuse. A child might be left hungry or dirty, or without proper clothing, shelter, supervision or health care. This can put children and young people in danger. And it can also have long term effects on their physical and mental well-being" |
